Hogwish

“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” -Matthew 18:19-20

Sorry it has been so long since I have written to you! Here is a memory that I would like to preserve. I know you will remember this all your life, but it bears retelling so we recall all the miraculous details...

We went to Deer Camp yesterday to hang out together. It was bright and sunny. We saw two deer from Grampy's stand and two deer from Uncle Eric's stand. This was the first time you ever shot a real gun - my old Marlin .22, and you were so excited and amazed that it wasn't too loud. You even hit the can you were shooting at on your second shot!

The most amazing thing that happened, though, took place in Uncle Eric's stand just before dusk. We had been sitting there for about 45 minutes, and you kept asking me how much longer we were going to stay. I told you we would leave soon, but I wanted to wait awhile because the animals usually start stirring right at dusk.

We had only seen two small deer there at that stand, and everything had been very still for the last 30 minutes or so. When you asked me again if we could go since nothing was moving, I said: "Let's say a prayer really quick."

Here is what we prayed: "Father, please let Michael and I see some hogs in the next few minutes...We ask this in Jesus' Name. Amen."

Now, I have been going to Deer Camp for seven years, and I have only seen hogs twice. The last time I saw them was about four years ago. It was very dark that evening and I saw their small shadows running under a feeder about 150 yards away. The other time I saw them was about five or six years ago. I inadvertently walked up on a large pack of them in the woods by myself (I hate to admit that my knees were shaking - but they were only about 10 yards away from me, and I had no bullet in the chamber of my gun!).

Back to the story: We prayed and were sitting quietly in the deer stand, paying attention to nothing in particular. After about four or five minutes, I looked up. Low and behold, there under the feeder about fifty yards away was a large pack of wild hogs digging around in the dirt!

We were so excited! After the hogs ran away, we thanked God for answering our prayer so specifically, and left to go home and tell mommy what had just happened.

This was also an answer to another prayer request I made with my CCD class last Wednesday. When we were praying as a group, I asked that God would fill us with His Holy Spirit and manifest Himself to each one of us in a special way before our next class. How great and awesome is He!

Thank you for praying with me and believing in God's power to do all things.

I love you,

Daddy
